Planting Guide

• Location: Thrives in full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for the most abundant blooms. Can tolerate some light shade but will produce fewer flowers.

• Soil: Adaptable to most soil types but prefers well-draining, moderately fertile soil. Avoid overly rich soil, which can produce more foliage and fewer blooms.

• Planting: Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost, or start indoors 4-6 weeks earlier. Plant seeds ¼ inch deep. Space plants 8-12 inches apart depending on variety.

• Watering: Water regularly until established. Once mature, marigolds are relatively drought-tolerant. Water at the base when soil feels dry, avoiding overhead watering to prevent powdery mildew.

• Deadheading: Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming throughout the season. This simple practice keeps plants looking fresh and productive.

• Fertilizing: Generally does not require heavy feeding. A light application of balanced fertilizer at planting time is sufficient. Too much fertilizer reduces flowering.
